End of year Reflection
This
semester histology has been my favorite class, by far. This class has allowed
me to apply my learning outside of the classroom in conversations and also in
the workplace. Learning about the tissues in detail will help me ease into my
graduate level courses smoothly and hopefully give me a head start in certain
areas. This class was great because we covered almost all of the major organ
systems and linked them together journeyed through the course. For example,
even though the tissue over view was one of the first chapters we studied, we
never failed to mention what type of epithelial lining covered the different
organs. I appreciated the time we had in lab to see the tissues we talked about
in class first-hand. One recommendation that I believe would enhance the class
even further is dissecting tissues and/or preparing slides of our own.
All of the information I have
learned is very relevant to my future goals and will not just be information I
crammed for exams. On the contrary this is information I aim to keep and apply
to my next chapter in life. At Kettering they teach with a modular system,
where they focus on one body system at a time. For example the pharmacology
course, the gross anatomy, and the clinicals will all be directed toward one
body system at the same time to enhance our learning. It will be great to
remember everything I have learned in this class and be able to connect it to
the pharmacology and gross anatomy classes. The students who gave us a tour at
the interview told us that the program is very rigorous and difficult. As much
as I may feel like the pace of Histology was too fast, in reality it prepped me
for much harder says ahead. Thank you Dr. V for your time, passion, and
dedication to this department and my learning. Thank you for making science classes so interesting, fun, and God-centered. You have taught me so much in
these undergrad years that I will take with me wherever God takes me. No words will ever be sufficient to thank you
for everything you do.
